Slice of Life Day 5

It was almost 60° when I got hone from school and it was sunny. The dogs were full of energy, so we headed to the park for a long walk.

We hiked for about 1.5 hours and 4 miles. I saw skunk weed popping up, so it’s almost spring! I also heard a few flickers and a pileated woodpecker (probably passing through during spring migration).

What I didn’t plan on was falling in the mud!

Navan is obsessed with bodies of water, so when we got to the Manasquan River (which looks more like a creek) he pulled me towards it. Then Dublin got excited, too. Unfortunately, the creek was downhill and the bank was thick, slick mud.

The dogs made it into the water and I landed on my butt. They weren’t even concerned! I spent the rest of the walk covered on thick Pine Barrens mud. Needless to say, I had to do laundry when we got home.

But you know who thoroughly enjoyed the walk? These two!

  1. What happy faces! Oblivious of a bit of mud.
