Getting Back Into the Swing of Things…

How is it possible that school starts in 2 weeks?  I’ve been planning like crazy these last few days and I haven’t even been to my new classroom yet!

I spent a day last week as a teacher/leader at the Monarch Teacher Network workshop so I am feeling refreshed and rejuvenated for the new school year.  My summer isn’t complete until I’ve spent some time with my fellow colleagues in Monarchs Anonymous!

I still have some reading to do for new classes.  My senior class is pretty well-outlined at this point (thankfully!) so I am focusing on my freshman course this coming week.  It is really cutting into my reading time. 😉

Seriously, how is summer almost over?!  Are you ready?

  1. So lucky! Our kids went back to school yesterday – Friday! – what an outrage. But now they have a weekend to wean themselves off of the 1 am – 11 am sleep cycle. As if that would have been allowed when I was a teen!

  2. We start back tomorrow! I just spent the past week in professional development, team meetings & planning. Ready or not, the kids are coming!!

Have a great back to school week!

  3. School starts for me on Tuesday. I can hardly believe my summer is over. I’m having one of those years where I wasn’t very excited about school starting, but after spending 4 days last week in my classroom leading workshops for teachers in my school district, I’m starting to feel the buzz.

Good luck on a fabulous year!

  4. Ready? No. But for me, school started last Wednesday. Best wishes on your new adventure! I’m teaching something new this year, as well. So far (all 3 days) it’s been terrific!

  5. We started school two weeks ago, and I still don’t feel like I’m ready! I’ve been getting my classes used to workshop routines, checking out books, and we’re already having our book fair next week. Where has the time gone? Of course, no matter how frantic I become, my students always make it worthwhile. Last week I introduced blogging into my workshop, and they were amazed at this new tool they were able to use to discuss the books they are reading. I’ve been doing this for 17 years, and I still love going to work everyday. Thanks for all of your great suggestions, and good luck this year! I know you will do a great job!

  6. Ha, yeah, our kids went back on Aug 11. From a public librarian’s standpoint, I feel like I’m finally getting back into the swing of doing everything I haven’t been able to do all summer long because we were so freakin’ busy! 🙂

  7. I’ve been doing lots of planning and gathering things, but haven’t been to school to set up yet. I love back to school time, but dread arriving to my classroom to find boxes and supplies all over the place, and having to move the furniture around. This is going to be one intense year…

  8. Tomorrow will be our second day of school. It was fun to see everyone on Friday and the day went so smoothly. I am looking forward to starting to launch workshops tomorrow.
