Flip Video Camera

Agh!  I just caved and bought the Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder, 30-Minutes (White) from Amazon (Deal of the Day)! It’s 60% off and I think it will be awesome to use in the classroom. I can already foresee a future of book trailers, book commercials, interviews, digital storytelling, and more!  The deal is only good for today, and is the cheapest price in 9 months.  Come on, you know you want one too.  So that I have someone else to commiserate with. OK, or plan with!

Anyone else use a Flip in their classroom? How do you use it?

(I figure it will also be good to have around for non-school related things, too.  I really should own a video camera!)

  1. We demoed (sp) one of these a few months ago at school and the students LOVED them! The principal has promised to buy at least three for our tv studio class!

  2. Hi! I’m a first-time commenter, but I love your blog! I’m an 8th grade Language Arts teacher in Texas, and our school just bought four of these Flip cameras. They are awesome. We just read Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie (recommended on your blog–thanks!!) and the students all filmed their favorite scene from the book in groups. They came out really well and the camera is really easy to use!

  3. Oh, very cool … might come in handy for remembering wedding dresses, too!

  4. Take it to Disneyland! It worked great for getting footage on rides (even in low light) and was so easy to carry around. I’m still working on getting teachers using them in the classrooms, but did have one take it along on a field trip last week.

  5. This little video camera actually takes better video than I thought It would. Its awesome ! Its so easy to handle . A kid can do it. Its a fun camera, just wish it had more power zoom and I would give it 5 stars . I recommend it for kids and for Adults that don’t like fiddeling with a complicated video camera. We went to a Dodger game in L.A. and everyone was having fun with it. I bought two of them. One for my son and one for me. .
