Some of you may have noticed that the blog has been quieter than normal lately. I mean quieter than the normal “November silence because I have a million Cybils nominees to read and it’s the end of the marking period and NCTE and NaNoWriMo”. :)
The reason for the extra silence is that I am currently working on my National Board Certification. It was a last-minute decision this year because NJ is only offering partial funding until the end of 2011. Thus, I am working on portfolio entries! Is anyone else a National Board candidate this year?

I have not purchased my badge of bravery yet to attempt my national board certification. I have thought about it often in the past several years, but Alabama has terminated the state grant, and the national board pay has been greatly reduced. Plus-nobody at my school wants to do it with me, so I am VERY hesitant!
Good luck with all of your portfolios. I’ve heard it is a TOUGH process!

I’m so glad you decided to take the leap – I’m cheering for you!
It is a very rewarding process! You can do it! I earned my certification in 2004 and I am now planning to renew next year!
Congrats! I’m on the fence taking the boards.
Congratulations and good luck! I know you’ll do fantastically.
This has been one of my goals for a long time. But things keep coming up that push it away. When was the Dec. deadline? Just curious. I think it’s great that you’re doing it. (I only personally know 1 person that has has the certification.) I’d love to know more about what the process is like, so keep us posted and good luck to you!
